I wore this to my town's street fair and suddenly high school kids were talking to me like I wanted to know about a total stranger's last sleepover?? Possibly I should have predicted that a Victorian-esque shirt would be relaxing and appealing to people who are neurodivergent, geeky, and for other reasons feel alienated.This is great for my work, but just something to keep in mind—because this shirt doesn't feel like a costume. It doesn't look like a cheap costume, and it is a good shirt which is interesting without being flashy. The material seems good-quality. I wouldn't describe it as super-soft, but I think it might soften after repeated washing, like real fabric does, and it isn't stiff or itchy or unpleasant to touch in any way. When I wore it, I was surprised to find a zipper under the left arm--I found this a bit distracting, but it's a sensible design feature. A zipper allows you to set the lacing how you want it and leave it like that for multiple wears and washes.The fit is almost uniquely good for top-heavy women, because most women's shirts are thoughtlessly narrow in the shoulders and arms even in plus sizes. The designers actually seem to have some basic knowledge of the bodies of women without supercharged metabolisms.I really hope Scarlet Darkness will offer it in more colors in future. I would 100% get it in burgundy, charcoal, hunter green, dark cobalt... hint-not-hint.
