Product Description

YOUR PERFECT MEDIEVAL OUTFIT - The full-torso lace up bodice has solid color panels alternating with Fleur De Lis pattern panels and is fully lined with plenty of vertical boning for additional support. The skirt is long, very full, and in a bell-shaped design that closes at the waist with a velcro fastening that is hidden under the bodice. You can adjust it somewhat while it will still lie flat. The hip-length, long-sleeve white chemise has puffy sleeves and a very full body. The chemise fabric gathers onto elastic at the wrists and neckline. The Chemise can be worn on or off the shoulders!Bodice measurements here are based on wearing the bodice completely closed when laced. The 2X Plus size fits a size 18-20 (bra size 42G). The bodice closes all the way. The skirt is incredibly long, so it does require hemming, but that also means you can order it without worrying that it'll end up being too short. I appreciate this very much, because I'm 5'11" and lots of skirts are made too short for me. Also, you can run some vertical stitches up the skirt and gather it up to the correct length, for a piratey ruched look. Either way, the skirt probably won't work for anyone as-is You're going to need to sew a bit. Personally, I like the flexibility - you can take something in or up pretty easily, but it's a lot harder to add material if a seller scrimps on the length. The thing I like the least about this costume is the under-shirt. Firstly, it's not a chemise, it only goes to the waist. It's made out of a poly-cotton blend that is somewhat scratchy and uncomfortable. On the plus side, it'll probably stay white because it's so synthetic, no stain will stick to it. If you just need a one-time costume for a party or something, the shirt is fine. However, if you're going to be spending a lot of time in garb for medieval recreation or LARPing, you'll get itchy & you'll want a better undergarment. The workmanship of the bodice is worth the price of the whole ensemble, in my opinion, so it's still money well-spent, even though the shirt is sort of a throw-away.The other materials seem to have a higher cotton content, so they're more comfortable. The skirt material is a lightweight broadcloth, so if it's at all chilly, you're going to want some kind of under-skirt. I'd just plan to replace the included under-shirt with an actual full-length chemise, made from a softer fabric and you'll be good to go.I recommend this outfit, especially for tall people, and I would order more of these if they made colors without fleur-de-lis. Overall, I'm quite happy with the purchase.I’m 5’5” 200lbs and I use an underbust corset with this costume, underbust corset size L and this costume size M. I threaded the ribbon provided with the costume up to just under the bust. And got additional ribbon from Joan’s and threaded it looser over the bust to keep them from flopping around giving this a very flattering shape, but you have to get creative.Do. not. Order .too .large.. this looks horrible for your shape if it’s loose and baggyI am 5'6", 145 lbs, 36C chest and I ordered a medium. I fits perfectly. I was able to lace the front of the corset all the way up so that it fit very tightly, I work at the Maryland Ren Fest and wearing a corset gives me the back support I need when I'm on my feet all day. I think I will have to replace the ribbons in the corset with some more sturdy material, the ribbons are cute but I don't think they will stand up to the wear and tear of lacing them up constantly. The rest of the ensemble is well made, the skirt puffs out nicely underneath the corset and the material is thick enough that you can't see through it but thick enough that it breaths. The shirt is plain but that's what you want underneath these kinds of outfits. The corset is the reason I bought the outfit, its a gorgeous royal blue and the silver fluer-de-lis pattern is beautiful. Not sure whats in the boning, probably just plastic, but the material of the corset itself is very sturdy and well made. All in all its a beautiful outfit that is very well made for a reasonable price, my only complaint is that the picture shown is of a blue corset with a blue skirt and I received a black skirt. I would love to have the blue skirt as well so I can mix and match with my other outfits. This costume is really very well made. The bodice is really nice. Note, however, that the size runs very large. If you are between sizes, definitely get the next size down rather than the next size up.Well worth the money.THis is the kind of garb you need for short-notice costuming. I've followed Artemesia on ebay with their medieval-style A-line dresses. I bought this for visiting Sherwood Faire in Texas. The fabric is a light cotton, so not too heavy. I'm not big on the velcro waist, but the skirt is still roomy, enough to add a hoop beneath for a more gentry look. Bodice, for the most part, fit well (36DD, and 5'5"), though it was roomy around the waist area so I added a belt to bring the waist in. The shirt was crisp cotton, very white and bright. The bodice didn't have sturdy boning, but you get what you pay for, and I believe this was a quick and easy garment for any weekends you might have for a renaissance faire or Halloween costume. As I said before it is beautiful.I bought an extra large for a 36 inch waist. The white blouse is a perfect fit as is the skirt and corset. And of course it looks better in real life!It has some Velcro strips about 3 or 4 inches wide so it holds well but I think I'll add a few decorative black buttons on the side. The black ribbon at the shoulders and front for lacing up is very pretty but I think it needs something a bit stronger so I bought some elaborate cording. What I love most of all is that it's cotton and I love the gold fleur de lis.Well made and doesn’t look like a cheap costume. It’s more along the lines of something would wear if working at a faire. skirt has Velcro closure which seemed odd. I had originally ordered a large and customer service was amazing in doing an exchange and making sure I had the medium in time. Fantastic to work with. The corset and chemise are awesome and look much more expensive than what they were. The skirt, while very pretty, is so lightweight that it is practically see-through. Wearing a long slip helped that issue however it is a very difficult fabric to iron. All said, I would recommend the outfit for the money. I wore it to a luncheon with a renaissance group and received several compliments.
